The Common Cup, opened in 2007, is a non-profit coffeehouse located in Ann Arbor on Washtenaw Ave., in the basement of University Lutheran Chapel. We are located just off of the University of Michigan Central Campus.
We pride ourselves on our quality products, cozy space, and local engagement. In addition to that, we also offer:

Our Menu
We are a coffee shop dedicated to offering exceptional classic coffee drinks while also catering to those who may prefer alternatives to coffee. Our espresso selection features lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, Americanos, and more, alongside our drip coffee and pour-over options for dedicated coffee lovers. In addition to our coffee offerings, we provide a range of high-quality teas, refreshing smoothies, Italian sodas, and delicious chai, ensuring that there is something delightful for everyone to enjoy.
In addition to beverages, we also offer various baked good options from local bakeries!

Did you know at the Common Cup, we have a rotating gallery filled with the work of local artists of all ages in the Ann Arbor area?
If you’re a local artist (or group of artists) and have a body of work you want to share, fill out the form below to submit yourself for consideration. The gallery’s calendar books about a year in advance, so please be aware of that when you inquire.
Meet the Designer ~ Norma Polk
Norma P. Polk is an award-winning costume designer and builder entering her 13th season at The Dio Dining and Entertainment in Pinckney. She has also worked for Forever After Productions, UMGASS, Spotlight Theater, and Concordia University Ann Arbor, and won the Wilde Award for Best Costume Design in 2023 for the musical Desperate Measures.
Norma holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. She is married to Dr. Thad Polk, is the mother of three, and serves as Director of International Student Connect at the University Lutheran Chapel in Ann Arbor.
